Monthly Report

Despite spending a glorious week away and two sets of night shifts this month, I still got a little spooky.

Book: Obsession by Ramsey Campbell. I have always been a fan of Campbell’s work as he manages to delve into the depths of human emotions while keeping the supernatural elements to a minimum. It is the same here, highlighting the fact that often, the scariest things in life are the mistakes that we make, the disappointments and anxiety.

Film: Rec 2. It is a good film, although not as good as the first film, and has an excellent continuation of the mythos touched upon in the first film. The film starts at the point that the first film ends. But this film still has plenty of tension and never-ending horror. It gives us some nerve-jangling terror and a strong sense of religious horror.

Writing: I have not managed to do as much writing as I hoped, but what I have done has been relating to “bad” films, some of which are enjoyable, but many more not so much. Can you guess what film I have been writing about - This is highlighted in a scene where the villain is in a torture chamber. The room has implements from around the world and through time. But he does not use any of these; in his hand is a Mini-DV camera, calling it “a sadist’s delight.”
