It is so close to Halloween I can smell it, and more importantly, it is nearly holiday time, a week away but three weeks off in total.
Book: Realms of Darkness by Mary Danby. This collection of short stories was bought as Christopher Lee on the cover. The book contains 73 short stories, many of which still hold up decades after their release.
Film: The Raven (2012) is terrific. It blends Edgar Allen Poe’s last days into a graphic novel-style version, and not as “gothic” as you would expect it to be. Luke Evans is also great as the detective; the two's interplay is the film's best part.
Writing: Remember last month when I said I was writing about things that bring me joy, but that did not last long. Back to writing about so bad, they’re good films, can you guess which one – “Unfortunately, the acting by Midkiff and Crosby is not particularly good. The dialogue can be strange sometimes, but somehow it adds to the film’s mood.”
